Sunday Thoughts - A Day With No Plans

Good Morning Friends,

When was the last time you had a day off with no plans? If so, what did you do with it?

We have so much consuming our attention and lives all the time now, whether we like it or not. Thus feeding our guilt of not turning up. It's one of life's silent thieves. But one of life's virtues is indeed the day with no plans.

It is a virtue as too many and it loses its value. Too few and we create disdain towards our life.

The day with no pressure nor expectation. The one that might be the best of your life or the worst. The one where others may match our energy and joy. We're in control of everything but we aren't.

The day where you can't change the world but you can change your world. The lack of things on your mind leads to the craziest dreams. All the possibilities ahead of you suddenly feel real. With just a bit more time and clarity.

These days are the best days for wasting time doing important things. I remember around a year ago, going for a walk with friends with no particular destination (somehow we ended up in the pub). It was in fact through the park in the picture above and I remember thinking we could have been doing something way more important or specific according to society. Yet it's a memory and experience that I'll always have with people who matter to me.

When you have a day with no plans, do only one activity that day. Be it a walk, a trip or something new. Do it when you feel like it. But plan no more than that. Let the day slowly blossom. Regardless of what you think, we don't experience this enough.

A day off with no plans is actually at the top of most people's list of desires, they just don't know it. Sometimes, it'll pass you by without you even noticing.

My blueprint for a perfect day off with zero plans -

  • Start slow (with your favourite hot drink!)
  • Plan one thing to do that day that will make your heart sing
  • Have a chat with someone you love or that matters to you
  • Do something outside
  • Dream a little

If I can ask you one favour, it would be to make this day a reality in your own life and then email me about what it looked like in your world.

I'm keeping this short and simple this week. Dream a little and enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

Best,

Lawrence

Good Morning Friends! I trust you're well. Today marks 5 years since I started this project, and in that regard, adds to the significance of today's letter. It all started with an old Mac, a headset, and a desire to share. This project has given me more than I could have imagined, and then some more. I never thought I'd connect with so many people around the world. Nor reach the depths of creativity I have. I'm saying this through pure joy, yet I'll never be able to put a price on the...

Good Morning Friends, I hope you're well. We're well into May now, and I'm truly basking in the greenness of the forest I see on the horizon each morning. I've been considering the relationship between time and meaningfulness this week, as I find spare time more fleeting yet moments more memorable. Time has become more of a commodity over recent years, yet the more you get is like money: there's no point in having so much if you don't do anything meaningful with it. We all think we want more...

Good Morning Friends, I trust you're well. To start, I'd love to ask, ' How do you live fully?' I'm leaving it open-ended as I try to expand my own awareness of what it means. I've found living presently with intention pre-child was a tool for being more fulfilled with life, yet post-child, you have no choice; you will live presently! Are there more levels? Does it just continue to evolve? Does it heighten the experience of simpler things? Does it allow you to be more ruthless when...
